# Messages

> Communicate with prescribers through ScriptPad messaging.

**Messages** provides direct communication between your pharmacy team and prescribers.

## Conversations

Messages are organized by conversation — typically one thread per prescriber. Open a conversation to see the full history and reply.

## When to use messages

Common use cases include:

* Clarifying prescription details before compounding
* Notifying a prescriber that an order is ready
* Following up on patient-specific questions
* Coordinating rush or custom requests

## Notifications

New messages appear in the **Messages** sidebar item. Prescribers see corresponding notifications in their portal **Messages** page.

<Tip>
  For patient-specific guidance that should persist across orders, use **Pharmacist Notes** instead of one-off messages. Notes stay attached to the patient record and surface in the prescriber's builder.
